Little Neck father and sons busted for illegal cigarette smuggling

Police reported the arrest of father and sons in Little Neck on September 26 for multi-state cigarette smuggling ring. The investigation was conducted by NYPD, NCPD, NYS after 8 people arrested from Little Neck, Long Island, Brooklyn and Virginia.

The identified are Nicholas Galafano, 56, along with his sons Yaseen Galafano, 22, and Musa Galafano, 25, of Little Neck, Nasi Jafri, 43, of Chantilly, Virginia, Ahmad Abualrub, 61, and Hassan Abualrub, 18, of Brighton Beach, Beatrice Villafane, 46, of Hempstead, Long Island. Another name has not been identified.

All eight arrested are charged with grand larceny, tax law felony involving cigarette and tobacco products, possession of forged instrument and conspiracy. All were arraigned and released without bail for their next court appearance on November 27. If convicted, they are heading to jail for 8 to 30 years.

The Queens DA's office reported of more than $953,000 in taxes that were not reported after the alleged illegal sales of more than $2 million dollars in cigarettes from big box stores in Virginia and Maryland to NY.
