Jackson Heights man arrested for duping potential renters out of 25 000

Police arrested Ulises Reyes, 39 of Jackson Heights after investigation reported of duping more than 10 potential renters out of their deposits. 12 potential tenants lost their deposits which were around $25,000 in the vicinity of Corona between 2017 and 2019.

Reyes showed apartments after posting ads online and then collected deposits only to never hear from potential tenants afterward. The fraudulent scheme was reported to local authorities who then forwarded to the Queens DA's office for further investigation. His bail is set at $40,000 and next court date is April 16. If convicted, he is heading to jail between 1 to 4 years.
