Housing over jobs a big demand in Queens

Queens don't want jobs but housing.

Housing programs under the NYC government have many jobs funded by taxpayers so it's all good to survive with peanut butter and jelly.

The original plan to have Amazon headquarters in Long Island City was not welcomed by the socialist group headed by the local Congress member Alexandria Ocasio Cortez back then some seven years ago. Nobody wants high paying jobs or companies without unions in NYC.

Now that same 54 blocks are in the final stage to add around 18,000 units as part of affordable housing for developers when the vote takes place next month in the City Council expected to pass.

This is the same location where rents are the most expensive in Queens not including utilities that go the average of $3,500 to $8,000 per month but hey who is complaining.

Long Island City has over 30,000 new units for the last 15 years and continues to increase more buildings.

The Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani who was endorsed by Cortez supported this project as part of the affordability campaign.

Oh Common, NYC will never be affordable but people are scared without government control.
