Homeowner arrested after 28 dead cats found on Long Island

After public outcry demanding a full investigation, the SCPD arrested the homeowner where 28 dead cats were found in a freezer in Bohemia, Suffolk County last weekend.

Calls came in after stench of ammonia smell around a home.

The Suffolk County DA announced the charges this afternoon with animal cruelty and failed to provide proper care to cats inside the home.

Of 28 dead cats, the SPCA reported 61 live adult cats and 8 kittens are being cared for at the local shelter. They will be up for adoption once the investigation is complete.

Also, the home where the owner, male, 75, was arrested is now closed due to uninhabitable conditions.

The DA will announce more updates when available.

The investigation continues.
