Police reports a hit and run in New Hyde Park. It happened around 6:35am at New Hyde Park Road and Plaza Avenue. The driver took off and the pedestrian was taken to a local hospital. EMS transported the victim in serious condition to a local hospital. Ongoing investigation.

Update - The driver was flagged down after the incident by onlookers.

Second Update - According to Detectives, a 59-year old female was operating a 2013 Honda CRV traveling northbound on New Hyde Park Road at which time it struck a 67-year old female pedestrian near the intersection of Plaza Avenue. The female victim suffered severe head injuries and was transported by Nassau County Police ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. The operator of the vehicle remained at scene. The investigation is ongoing.
