Flushing community board 7 voted in favor of developers for water front district

On Monday, Community Board 7 had public hearing for the Special Flushing Waterfront District for rezoning. The event also had public inputs voted in favor to developers by 30-8. The proposal is for construction of 1,725 apartments with another 880 for hotels, retail space and offices. This is part of the city's affordable housing plan with almost 100 units set aside for waive of property taxes. The meeting was tensed with people against the plan and police were called. The next step is acting Queens borough president Sharon Lee to decide within 30 days.
