First project for street vendors announced

Battery is the future of NYC services.

As part of a climate program, NYC in cooperation with City Parks Foundation, a non-profit, will introduce electric power instead of generators powered by gasoline for street vendors that sell food most people have no clue about. The statement explains one hour of gas generator results output of 234 miles of carbon monoxide in the air and it's bad for NYC.

Currently there are vendors using rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, the same used by e-bikes but unsuccessful after customers complained of different delicacies while most insist on gasoline powered generators. However, the battery is not cheap and goes for around $4,000 plus maintenance. The other option is Con Edison curbside electrical service to their spots which was tried ten years ago but it lacked the infrastructure.

As of now, batteries are the only option with more companies set to launch in NYC for storage and other services. The NYC Council already passed many bills related to battery storage despite most of the fire incidents being caused by batteries.

It's a wait and watch for the first task for street vendors in NYC.
