First part of NYCHA public housing to privatize despite de Blasio s objection

The New York City Housing Authority agreed to privatize 6,000 units for $1.5 billion. The start is for Brooklyn and Manhattan. As part of state's authority, the deal will also revamp buildings with violations. Several real estate developer companies from L+M Development Partners to The Hudson Companies. Mayor de Blasio is against the privatization along with the Council members but the power is with Governor Cuomo. The NYCHA is also reviewing Queens locations to privatize.
The deal will benefit over 6300 residents at:
