Driver dead after hitting tree in Westbury

The Nassau County police reported fatal vehicular accident on July 2 at 2:30pm. According to detectives, a 33-year-old male was operating a 2007 Volkswagen north bound on Merrick Ave. when he collided with a tree. He was extracted from his vehicle and transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased by a staff physician due to severe trauma.
