Domestic violence turned into gunshot in New Cassel

The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Westbury man for an incident that occurred on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 12:28 am in New Cassel.
According to Detectives, Third Precinct Officers responded to a New Cassel residence for a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival officers located a female victim,19, with a gunshot wound to her chest. The defendant, Brian Mercado-Ventura, 21, of 751 Railroad Avenue was placed into police custody without further incident. The victim was transported by a Nassau County Police Department Ambulance to a local hospital where she is in stable condition. No other injuries were reported.
Brian Mercado-Ventura is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Menacing 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Reckless Endangerment 2nd, Aggravated Criminal Contempt and Tampering with Physical Evidence. He will be arraigned on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead. (From NCPD)
