Construction to build affordable housing to start this summer in Garden City

The empty lot at 555 Stewart Avenue in Garden City will start construction for affordable housing. The proposed two 4 story building with 143 units will set aside 10% for affordable housing to avoid paying property taxes. The construction will start in July 2020. The lot will also have retail, gym, pool and etc. Of 143 units, 9 will be 3 bedrooms, 74 for 2 bedrooms and 60 for 1 bedroom. The construction is expected to complete by September 2021.
