Childhood sweethearts reunited in heaven after the car crash in Nassau County

The latest update on the car crash on the Southern State Parkway by Exit 17 in Nassau County confirmed two people died and one in critical condition who were all in the same vehicle, a Toyota Highlander. The dead were identified as the bishop of the local Pentecostal church, Donald Maxwell, 82 and his wife Liscent Maxwell who migrated to NYC from the Jamaica island for better life. Donald was also involved in several churches beside the local church in Far Rockaway where his main service was conducted along with his wife; they never missed any Sunday services all their lives. The injured inside their vehicle was a local deacon. All were heading home to Farmingdale after an evening service in the Bronx. From a family member, the couple were married over 60 years and were close since childhood by spreading the word of God and raised a beautiful family. Now the family is arranging their funeral services.

Police apprehended a driver from Oceanside and charged with DWI when the incident occurred after 10pm on Sunday night. From a local source, the woman was driving westbound on the parkway and sideswiped a BMW a witness said was speeding but not confirmed then crossed the center median losing control to the eastbound where the crash occurred. This is where the collision toward the Highlander was involved and then more vehicles sending shockwaves.

EMS reported over 10 people were taken to local hospitals all injured from the reckless accident.

The investigation continues.
