Carthage man arrested for assault

On May 29, 2025, at 7:19 p.m., State Police responded to an apartment on Bridge Street in the village of Carthage, Jefferson County, for a reported fight.

On arrival, Troopers located a victim with a head injury.  Troopers provided medical care to the victim until the arrival of Carthage Area Rescue Squad.

Investigation determined that the suspect, later identified as Timothy D. O’Connor, age 28, from Carthage, NY, arrived at the apartment and confronted the victim, who he knows.

A verbal altercation occurred and ultimately turned physical when O’Connor strikes the victim several times with a closed fist. O’Connor left the scene prior to State Police arrival.
