CIP to close for one weekend

The NYC Dept of Transportation stated Cross Island Parkway will be closed on October 23 and 24 from the Southern State/Belt Parkway on the south to the Grand Central Parkway on the north.

By 10pm on Saturday until 8pm Sunday all lanes will be closed to bring a large crane on the parkway for the installation of steel girders for the future Elmont station of LIRR. This is for Phase 1 of the Elmont station to connect commuters eastbound to the UBS Arena when it's ready to open on November 20 for the Islander's home game. By 2022, the station will be fully open for regular service.
