Bye bye police officers while people will defend themselves in NYC

As of today, record shows 2,746 police officers of NYPD filed for retirement. They are the best skilled and the top ones in the league. 2,600 already left the jobs now making the total number to 5,346 for the year 2020. This is 15% of the workforce. For the year 2021, the hiring is limited and now NYPD is promoting all to take the exams but the enrollment has not even reached 15% target. Also, almost 1,000 cops filed for leave or retirement for this year and the number is expected to increase in the coming months. For 2019, 3,053 opted for retirement and leave from NYPD. The NYPD once had over 50,000, the largest nationwide is now at 34,974 as of April 2021. The union arm of NYPD, PBA also reported by this summer more cops will quit waiting for the NYC Council vote to make it a law if each one is personally liable for incidents. This is nail biting news to watch soon for many officers. As for politicians, fundings from taxpayers has been increasing to various non-profits to train civilians to defend themselves and how to be an upstander when witnessing crimes. So when someone has a gun or a knife, training to defend against those will be explained to the public without weapons and 911. Self defense with a banana may help. Good luck to all.
