BQX will move to the next step of development

The $2.7 billion plan to connect 11 miles between Astoria, Queens and Red Hook and Gowanus, Brooklyn with street car known as BQX will move to the next step according to NYC's Economic Development.

The step involved environmental study of the land where the rails will be setup. The project will cost $7.2 million in tax payers fund. The contract has been awarded to VHB, a private company.

The environmental project is expected to be completed in 2020 and land use review in 2021.

The BQX is expected to generate $30 billion in economy within 40 years.
