Auburndale mother under investigation for the death of a baby

Police were called to a home on Ashby Avenue near Utopia Parkway in Auburndale reporting a 1 year old dead baby girl. It happened around 9:45pm on October 3. The child, Elaina was found unconscious after the mother called 911. She was dead by 10:30pm at Flushing Hospital. Police removed four other children from the basement of the home where they were staying with the mother. One boy is in the hospital with serious injuries at LIJ in New Hyde Park. The children's father doesn't there and visits often. Police also reported child services were called numerous times to the home along with cops but no actions were taken. The cause of the child's death will be conducted by the city's medical examiner. The child's mother, 33 year old is being questioned pending charges and if other people are involved.
