All closed at Friday night nationwide

The longtime stores of Rite Aid closed officially on Friday night as the last day for the remaining stores nationwide including NY. This was part of Chapter 11 bankruptcy filed earlier this year.

The company announced on their website with this message, “All Rite Aid stores have now closed. We thank our loyal customers for their many years of support.”

All 2,300 stores in 17 states are now remembered after opening the first location in 1962. Since then it has become the third largest pharmacy after CVS and Walgreens.

The good news is the website is still open for existing customers to access prescriptions.
