2040 comes soon to have fanfare for Creedmoor

Balloons will have to wait.

15 years will go fast living in NYC and the Creedmoor project from housing, community center and so much more is moving forth inside the Bellerose Glen Oaks compound that is now housing the mental patients.

After agreeing to 2,022 units under compromise between local elected officials, community board, Governor's office and others involved, the mixed use project is moving to the next step which is Environmental Review and General Project Plan which is under process and can take a minimum of 2 years before development starts. At the same time, the request for proposals (REF) is also under process.

The original plan was 2,873 with towers up to 8 story tall, but the community demanded to keep it under 1,000.

Now overseen by the NYS Empire State Development, of 2,022 total, 1,045 will be allotted for purchase and 977 for rent. As part of the affordable housing, 288 will be reserved for low income while veterans will get 78 units. The other numbers are for seniors and other supportive groups.

All will see mostly two story homes similar to the area along with few three story adjacent.

This area will see the new demographic as the neighborhood is gradually changing anyway.
