2020 was 12 then 2022 was 15 now 27 for all NYC

The NYC Comptroller's office says the cost of snow removal per day is $27 million from overtime, fuel cost for trucks, supplies, insurance, etc. In 2020 it was only $12 million and $15 million in 2022. With inflation adjustment, the number will soon rise to maybe $50 million and hopefully to $100 million per day. The math is $1.8 million per inch now so 15 inches equals $27 million.

The office also says the city has set aside $96 million for this year's budget for snow removal which is likely to exceed all this week due to no rain or warm weather to melt the snow.

The temperature is still cold.

Back in 2014, a study suggested that snow shut down cost NYC $700 million each day. With figures like that, it is very much worth it to clear the snow as quickly as possible to keep the city running.

To make up the mark, the Mayor's office is advising all to call 311 to complain of your neighbors if they didn't shovel their sidewalks. As of today, Manhattan issued 11,365 violations followed by Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx.

The city needs money badly.
