Witness told police the driver of train crash took off after hit and run

Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder told the public and media the driver of a vehicle that caused the crash involving LIRR was taking off after hit and run.

Police reported a car crash earlier stating it was minor and the driver took off. Before speeding ahead of waiting vehicles by the stop gate of LIRR, the driver was trying to beat ahead until the train hit.

The impact resulted all three dead inside the vehicle. The identity of all three dead has not been disclosed due to ongoing investigation.
