Vehicle collisions without injury is not police matter in NYC

On Monday, NYPD released a memo to all precincts of vehicle collisions involving no personal injuries. The pilot program was launched last year and now its fully enforced in NYC. Incidents such as fender benders, bumper to bumper scratches, side swipes and other minor accidents are to be death between two drivers. However, hit and run incidents still need to be reported to 911. Drivers will be responsible for filling out their own reported and forwarding to the DMV and insurance agencies. Last year, 165,707 incidents involved no injuries and police were accounted a portion of the time. The pilot program resulted emergency response to almost 10%.
