Vehicle accidents continue to increase with injuries including school buses in Queens

As of January 31, the NYPD reported vehicle accidents continue to increase in Queens. This includes school buses.

This morning, a school bus accident resulted in over ten people including students taken to hospital with injuries at the intersection of Union Turnpike and Winchester Blvd in Bellerose around 8am. Police say this was a single accident when the bus driver told detectives ice skid resulted crashing toward the side of the road.

Around 1om, the Long Island Expressway westbound by Kissena Blvd reported a vehicle accident involving a school bus with injuries except students. Police reported a tire blew off from the school bus striking several vehicles on the expressway.

As of this afternoon, EMS reported 43 people were transported to hospitals from vehicle injuries since January 31st.

Police say weather may be the factor beside speeding.

All incidents remain under investigation.
