Valley Stream man arrested for mortgage fraud

The Robbery Squad reports the Arrest of a North Valley Stream man for Grand Larceny that occurred on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 9:05 p.m. in Bethpage.

The Nassau County Police Department Fraud and Forgery Unit, in conjunction with the New York State Department of Financial Services, investigated a mortgage fraud complaint made by two victims from Freeport on August 24, 2015. The female victims, ages 63 and 26, stated the defendant, Rickie Roberts, 58, of 982 N. Bowe Rd., while acting as a real estate agent, did show them multiple properties over the course of three years. During this time, the defendant stated the victims had to make payments to cover banking fees and down payments to show good faith. The victims provided the defendant with multiple cashier?s checks totaling over $150,000.

After an investigation the defendant surrendered himself without incident.

Rickie Roberts is charged with Grand Larceny 2nd Degree and Grand Larceny 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at First District Court, Hempstead. (From NCPD)
