Update on incident involving shots fired in East Meadow

The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of a Rockville Centre man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at 8:14 p.m. in East Meadow. According to the Gang Investigative Squad, Officers responded to a call for shots fired at Eisenhower Park located at 1899 Hempstead Turnpike. A description was broadcasted over the radio of a subject running through Eisenhower Park towards Merrick Avenue. Officers observed defendant Lamichael Taylor, 34, of 30 Old Mill Court, running through Eisenhower Park, hopping a fence and continuing southbound on Merrick Avenue towards Hempstead Turnpike. Officers apprehended defendant Taylor and placed him into custody without further incident. Subsequent to the investigation a semiautomatic Smith and Wesson M&P shield .40 caliber was recovered. Defendant Lamichael Taylor is being charged with Criminal Possession Weapon in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree and Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree. He will be arraigned on Monday, June 5, 2023, at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.

Gang Squad Detectives arrested Jahmani Harleston, 24, of , Brentwood in connection with the above listed incident. Defendant Harleston is charged with Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree. He was arraigned on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
