Union Turnpike eastbound closed in Fresh Meadows

The NYPD closed off Union Turnpike eastbound after 188 Street reporting a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian. According to multiple witnesses, an alleged perp went into Dunkin Donuts on the corner and took merchandise from the Baskin Robbins fridge. Then took off without paying and was struck by oncoming vehicle on Union Turnpike.

Police have not confirmed that.

Another group of witnesses say the male was crossing with another accomplice when the incident occurred involving a speeding vehicle.

EMS transported the male to a local hospital. The driver remains on the scene and is cooperating with the police.

Highway CIS notified.
