Traffic stop in Norfolk leads to drug and weapons arrest

On May 3, 2026, the New York State Police arrested Tyler J. LaPage, age 32, of Raymondville, St. Lawrence County, charging him with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree. He was also issued Vehicle and Traffic Law tickets.

On May 3, 2026, at approximately 9:16 p.m., troopers were patrolling Furnace Street in the town of Norfolk when they observed a blue 2011 Hyundai commit a violation of the Vehicle and Traffic Law. Troopers initiated a traffic stop and interviewed the driver, who was identified as LaPage.

During the interview, troopers determined that LaPage did not possess a valid New York State driver’s license. LaPage was detained while the vehicle was inventoried prior to being towed. During the inventory, troopers located drug paraphernalia and two pilum ballistic knives.

LaPage was transported to State Police Massena for processing. He was issued appearance tickets and released, with a return date to the Town of Norfolk Court scheduled for June 2026.
