Tonight is State of the City address by Mayor di Blasio

Here are some of the highlights expected. 1. Goal of 100,000 units as part of affordable housing. As of December 2016, the current standing is 62,500 units in NYC. 2.Set aside $1.9 billion for another 10,000 apartments for households making less than $40,000. Out of this, 5,000 for seniors and 500 for veterans. 3. Proposed Elder Rent Assistance program which will cover rent for seniors up to $13,000 per year under the new plan, Mansion Tax. This is for aged 62 and above living on less than $1,500 per month social security and other programs. With the new program, seniors can afford to stay in their own homes without moving to coops, apartments or senior centers. The speech will start at 7pm and will be live on selected telecasts and online.
