Midnight sale of unpaid water bills and property taxes goes to lien in NYC. For outstanding dues, the amount owed by property owners will be sold to two companies the city has assigned for collections.

At the same time, the NYC Sheriff's Office is getting ready to remove people from properties that are headed for lien sale.

The lien sale will then be sold at auctions. Whoever wins the auction will have to collect the payments of lien dues which takes years and years to settle.

Private real estate developers are eyeing the lien list which will be announced next week for sale while property owners are scouting for loans to clear the debts.
