The mayor of NYC is upset with NYPD commissioner

During today's briefing on the coronavrus, NYPD Commissioner stated a separate press meet is needed to report crime and other details to the public without the mayor. All this time for all NYPD press meet on crimes, the mayor is always leading with two slogans, "The safest city in America" and "Crime is down". The mayor was uncomfortable with the commissioner's statement. So far, NYPD has not released crime statistics details for NYC since they are marked under COVID related from domestic violence, assaults to robberies and not much on social distancing.
This is what started at the brief leading to difference
"I will not have my police department called a racist police department," NYPD Commissioner.
"Powerful" quoted by the mayor with a blank mind.
