Teenager fatally stabbed during group fight in Queens NYPD

Witnesses say a mob of kids—some in ski masks—jumped another group, still wearing their backpacks, after school Friday. One of the teenagers was stabbed to death at the intersection of Queens Boulevard and 38 Street.

Mayhem unfolded inside the McDonald’s in Sunnyside around 3:30 p.m., according to police.

A fight between teenagers then spilled onto Queens Boulevard, where one was stabbed, according to witnesses.

“Fifteen to 20 kids pulled up with ski masks on another group of kids. It was hectic. They were screaming, cursing at each other,” Sheikh Rahan recalled.

Rahan, 15, happened upon the chaotic mob scene while headed to a doctor’s appointment. He was solely focused on getting his mom and sister to safety.

“I was scared. I was with my mom and sister, wanted to get them inside the clinic as soon as possible,” Rahan said.

Police and paramedics found a 14-year-old had been stabbed in the stomach.

He later died at the hospital.

Police were standing guard next to a steak knife at the scene before crime scene investigators collected the potential evidence.

“There’s two high schools nearby, Queens Technical and Aviation [High School]. Both have kids pouring into McDonald’s here after, usually,” one neighborhood resident said.

All night, detectives huddled inside the McDonald’s, where Janet Torres’ sister works in the kitchen. They weren’t immediately allowed to leave.

“She said someone [was] killed outside, but she didn’t see…She said they’re blocked inside,” Torres said.

Investigators are trying to pinpoint surveillance footage of the attackers who left the boy to bleed out.

Police said the boy’s family was still being notified of his death.

At this hour, no arrests have been made, but several people were taken into custody for questioning, according to NYPD sources.
