Suspect now facing more charges after the Bayside robbery

Police have charged Paul Wiesner, 56 of Astoria with first degree assault, grand larceny and unauthorized use of vehicle during a robbery in Bayside.

The incident was reported on Saturday, April 16 around 9am when a local resident, Caroline Bonacci, 60 was walking to Key Food on 73rd Avenue in the back parking lot by Bell Blvd when she was knocked down. Police stated Wiesner was driving a Nissan Sentra and opened the door approaching the victim. Then tried to snatch her purse from the car window. This is when Wieser allegedly knocked her down causing injuries. Then took off with her purse.

The woman remains in the hospital as of today.

After a massive search involving other attacks and vehicle’s license plates were alerted, police tracked down to the Triborough Bridge the same night. Police reported a female accomplice was in the vehicle. She was charged with abetting robbery. The vehicle was registered in her name. She has been released after charges were filed.

This is not his first arrest. On March 19 he was accused of multiple larcenies. In August 2021, he was accused of driving a vehicle without the owner's consent. All the charges are added to the recent incident.

The Queens DA offered no bail to Wiesner and is in Rikers Island on remand until his next date is June 17 at the Kew Gardens Criminal Court.
