Summonses are on a roll for ebikes in NYC

The NYPD is on the increasing target of e-bike riders in NYC by issuing summons from reckless riding, running red light, wrong way to speeding.

This is mainly due to community outrage from mostly Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Under the NYPD Commissioner when the enforcement started on April 28, 916 summons were issued to appear in court to dispute and no fines were issued on the tickets. This is up to the judge to decide after the NYPD Commissioner stated criminal court summons are enforced with arrests if missed court dates. This is much more effective compared to traffic tickets which often result in suspension or loss of driver license.

Meanwhile, bike activists and lobbying groups are against the enforcement since biking is the new transportation to move around in NYC and it's growing so leave it alone.

NYPD is also enforcing in Queens the same criminal court summons which are to appear at Kew Gardens Criminal Court.

The enforcement applies to all from delivery to recreational purpose.
