Student arrested in Freeport for having a gun

First Squad Detectives and Freeport Police report the arrest of a Juvenile for Criminal Possession of a Firearm on School Grounds that occurred on Monday, June 12, 2023, at 12:00 pm in Freeport. According to detectives, the Freeport High School Principal was notified regarding a photo showing a current student holding what appears to be a firearm. The photo was taken inside a school bathroom. The police were notified, and a thorough investigation was conducted. The male, 16, was arrested without incident. The juvenile is charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm on School Grounds. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at First District Court, Hempstead.
