State Police investigating fatal crash in the town of Southeast

On January 26, 2025, at approximately 7:15 a.m., State Police were called to I-684 in the town of Southeast for a report of a two-car crash.

A preliminary investigation determined that Makayla S. McIntyre, 23, of Mount Vernon, was traveling northbound on I-684 when she lost control of the vehicle.

During the investigation, it was determined that McIntyre struck a guiderail, veered across all lanes of travel, and hit another vehicle operated by Michael T. Keller, 65, of New Milford, Connecticut.

Both vehicles veered off the roadway, striking the middle median, overturning, and coming to rest in the center embankment of I-684.

McIntyre was transported to Danbury Hospital with minor injuries.

Keller was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
