State Police arrest three following a stolen vehicle pursuit

On September* 6, 2025, State Police with the assistance of the Saratoga Spring Police Department and the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office arrested Eugene R. Shaw Jr., 21 of Saratoga Springs for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the fourth degree, two counts of Reckless Endangerment in the second degree, Criminal Mischief in the fourth degree, two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Reckless Endangerment of Property and numerous Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.

In addition, on September* 8, 2025, a 12-year-old and a 15-year-old were arrested for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the fourth degree.

On September* 6, 2025, Troopers received the description of a vehicle that had been reportedly stolen from Freeman Lane in Saratoga Springs, NY at about 6:18 p.m. Approximately ten minutes later at about 6:27 p.m. the allegedly stolen vehicle was located traveling southbound on I-87 Northway in Malta, NY. State Police along with the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver later identified as Shaw Jr. failed to comply resulting in a pursuit. The vehicle pursuit was terminated due to public safety concerns just south of the Twin Bridges in Colonie, NY.

Following the termination of pursuit the stolen vehicle utilized the exit 6 offramp. Shaw Jr. was reportedly operating recklessly and lost control of the vehicle as he attempted to make the left turn from the off-ramp onto Troy Schenectady Road. The vehicle overturned multiple times and came to rest on the overpass above the I-87 northbound lanes. Shaw Jr. and two juvenile passengers then fled on foot but all three were quickly taken into custody without incident.

All three individuals were taken to Albany Medical Center for evaluation and treatment of minor injuries.

Upon release from the hospital Shaw Jr. was transported to SP Latham for processing where he was issued appearance tickets returnable to the Colonie Town Court on September 25, 2025, and released.
