State Police arrest California man following a Johnstown disturbance

On May 30, 2025, State Police arrested Gerald D. Johnson, 56 of Wildomar, CA for two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, Menacing in the second degree, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree.

On May 30, 2025, at about 1:33 a.m. Troopers responded to the area of Fifth Avenue Extension in Johnstown, NY for the report of a man brandishing a firearm in a parking lot. On arrival, Troopers located the victims who reported Johnson displayed and pointed a handgun at them. The investigation discovered two illegally possessed loaded unserialized (Ghost) handguns, an illegal high-capacity magazine and multiple glass smoking devices containing controlled substance residue in Johnson’s vehicle.
