Speed cameras at NYC schools to expire on July 25

Mayor di Blasio is campaigning to renew the speed camera legislation which is set to expire on July 25. There are about 140 cameras in NYC school zones. At the same time, NYC Dept of Transportation released report of reduction of accidents due to cameras. Union Turnpike shows major difference of accidents. The Republicans in the State Senate are not supporting the bill which need to pass. At the same time, opposition groups are also petitioning to ban them. If the legislation doesn't pass by July 25 or with extension, the entire speed cameras will be removed from school vicinity in NYC.
