South Ozone Park residents required to relocate after sewage damage

The city issued notices to all families living in hotels after sewage damaged their homes. By June 30th, they will have to find another location on their own instead of continuing to remain in hotels. The incident was reported back in December 2019 when the city admitted a pipe broke causing flood damages in over 100 homes in South Ozone Park. After protesting at their local politician's offices, claims were filed out for 54 residents. One drawback was the city told residents they don't have sewage insurance over flood insurance which caused temporary stay for two weeks in hotels until a deal was arranged. Another 10 families were extended but now they have to relocate due to budget cuts.
