SUV driver flees after hitting 2 girls in Queens NYPD

Two girls were struck by an SUV in Queens on Monday afternoon, according to police.

Officers responded to a 911 call for multiple pedestrians struck at 1:11 p.m. on 37th Avenue and 73rd Street in Queens, police said.

Authorities said an unidentified driver in a Toyota RAV4 was driving westbound on 37th Avenue when the driver was stopped behind another vehicle at a red light. The SUV driver then bypassed the car in front of them and drove through the red light on 37th Avenue.

The driver then allegedly struck an 8-year-old girl and a 4-year-old girl who were heading southbound on 73rd Street at a crosswalk, police said.

The SUV driver did not stop and fled to unknown parts, police said.

The victims were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, authorities said.

No arrests have been made.

The victims are expected to survive their injuries, police said.
