Racing caused multiple injuries on the Belt Parkway

Police closed all lanes on the Belt Parkway westbound by Exit 17 reporting multiple vehicle accidents with injuries. It happened around 1:30am. The Exit ramp was also closed after one vehicle blocked the lane. Over 5 vehicles were involved in the wreck. This was on the westbound.

Police believe two drivers were racing, a BMW and an Infinity when they struck two other vehicles. One vehicle caught fire.

One is in critical condition as of 9am today.

The same location reported overturned vehicle around 8pm yesterday.
