Queens man charged in killing of woman found buried in shallow grave

According to authorities, the partner of a Queens lady who vanished last week before her corpse was located buried in a shallow grave in Edgemere has been charged with murder.

Rogelio Lozano-Garita, 26, of Queens, is accused of murdering, criminally owning a weapon, concealing a human corpse, and tampering with physical evidence in connection with the murder of Seraphina Pereira, a 35-year-old mother who had been reported missing.

Just days after discovering a woman's body buried in a shallow grave at Rockaway Community Park, close to Beach 58th Street and Almeda Avenue, the charges were filed. The victim was later identified as Pereira after the medical examiner of the city determined she had received a single gunshot to the head.
