Protest in Flushing to save SHSAT

Queens local politicians and parents are angry at Mayor di Blasio to eliminate Specialized High School Admissions Test (SHSAT) which is for elite schools in NYC such as Bronx School of Science and Stuyvesant High School. A protest is scheduled on Friday in Flushing. Open to the public. However, the bill will not take place this year due to limited deadline with NYS who decides the decision. The NYS Education Committee passed the bill for next year which the Governor will decide. If SHSAT is scrapped altogether, then the entire NYC public school admissions will be the same. Many teachers at specialized schools are already considering to quit their jobs if the bill is passed. There are total of 8 elite schools in NYC.
