As part of 5 locations in NYC set for pilot program of a new toilet model, Astoria is the destination for Queens. This will be installed at the Hoyt Playground where there are no toilets.

The Portland Loo toilet all made of metal with breathable on top will be installed at 1800 Hoyt Avenue N.

Each 9 feet station will have a toilet, locking door, washing sink, diaper changing table with blue LED light.

The other four locations are Father Macris Park in Staten Island, Joyce Kilmer Park in the Bronx, Thomas Jefferson Park in Manhattan and Irving Square Park in Brooklyn.

The installation is expected in the Summer 2024 and will cost the taxpayers $185,000 each, the Parks Department has budgeted up to $5.3 million for the project to account for construction costs like connecting them to electric and water lines.
