Port Washington man sentenced to 20 years in prison for sexually abusing victim for five years

Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly announced that a Port Washington man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for sexually abusing a victim at his home for approximately five years, beginning when she was four years old and attending Pre-K.

The 59-year-old defendant was convicted after a jury trial on March 4, 2025, before Judge Christopher Quinn of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in First Degree (a B felony).

He was sentenced today to 20 years in prison.

“The victim in this case should have been safe and supported at the home of her babysitter, free to enjoy her childhood. Instead, the defendant stole years of innocence away from her with calculated and vile actions,” said DA Donnelly. “Today’s sentence has delivered justice and accountability, and ensures the defendant has no opportunity to prey on another victim. My office is fully committed to protecting and supporting the most vulnerable members of our communities, and making sure survivors of abuse are always heard.”

DA Donnelly said that the defendant’s wife began babysitting the victim when she was a baby. In 2014, when the victim turned four years old, the defendant began to sexually abuse her while she was present at his home and being cared for by his wife.

The abuse continued until the victim was about nine years old and no longer went to the defendant’s house for childcare.

The victim, now a teenager, disclosed the abuse to a school guidance counselor when she was 12 years old.

The defendant was arrested at his home in Port Washington on June 15, 2023, by members of the Nassau County Police Department’s Special Victims Squad.
