Phase 2 rolled out from DMV to a new inspection sticker

By the end of 2023, The NYS Dept of Motor Vehicles is transitioning to a new inspection sticker under phase 2.

Phase 2 involves shipping the print-on-demand sticker system to thousands of New York State-licensed inspection stations. This new system prints the vehicle identification number (VIN) and mileage information right on the sticker itself. The sticker color will continue to change from year to year to provide additional information about whether a vehicle’s inspection is up to date.

No more punch in the hole stickers after 2024 but color changes with immediate print out from the new machines that cost around $2,000 instead of waiting for stickers arriving in the mail for customers.
