Payless ShoeSource closing all stores

The company Payless ShoeSource is closing all 2,100 remaining stores nationwide. All of the stores will remain open until at least the end of March and the majority will remain open until May.

The stores have started liquidation after Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The website will also shut down in the coming weeks.

At one time, the store had almost 5,000 locations nationwide. The business had loss of half a billion dollars.

The business will not affect stores in other countries such as South America.

Payless was founded in 1956 by two cousins, Louis and Shaol Lee Pozez, to offer self-service stores selling affordable footwear.
