One in custody after bathroom fire incident in Elmont

The NCPD reported a male suspect arrested after being inside a local school in Elmont by hiding in the bathroom and lit the garbage bin on fire. This is on Elmont Road near the local church and Dutch Broadway. The incident was reported this afternoon around 12:30pm.

ESU brought down the male under control and EMS transported him to a local hospital now under observation.

No students were injured during the incident.

Charges are pending.

Police didn't disclose if this was a student, school personnel or an intruder.

The investigation continues.
