One dead after crossing the parkway in Cambria Heights

Cross Island Parkway by Linden Blvd in Cambria Heights was shut down this morning around 5:15am when police reported a woman crossing was hit by a vehicle and died. The driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with the police.

This is the third incident in one week related to pedestrians struck by vehicles on the Cross Island Parkway. Yesterday around 5pm, a pedestrian selling water bottles on the parkway was hit by a vehicle near Hillside Avenue Exit.

The investigation continues.
