No jail but new bill for serial shoplifters in NYC

A member of the NYC Council introduced a bill to allow retail stores to have cameras and plexiglass to handle serial shoplifters in NYC. The word, jail is out of the question for most of the local elected officials. Serial shoplifters account for 30% in retail thefts.

On Thursday around 2:30pm, a suspect using a blowtorch to remove items locked in a plexiglass at the local Walgreens, on Astoria Blvd in East Elmhurst was caught on video but none of the local elected officials responded to the crime. The suspect has been busted and charged with petit larceny and arson released with a court date.

So far, NYC reported many retail stores are closing due to thefts since the same perps without bail keep coming back stealing items.
